“Fake news” continues to be a topic of great concern in American society. People ask themselves, “How can anyone tell whether a news item is valid or phony, particularly in light of the constant onslaught of breaking news?”

The Morrison County Historical Society (MCHS) is offering a class to help. The class, called “How to Analyze the News,” will cover propaganda, confirmation bias, the anatomy of a news article, and slant. It will teach attendees methods for spotting fake news and determining whether a source is credible, skills that MCHS staff continually use in uncovering history. The class is meant to make people think, not provide easy answers.
